Maingear’s latest (appropriately titled) Retro95 is a deceptive love-letter to old-school PCs “pizza box” . It’s Wolfenstein 3D and Sierra adventure games outside, Cyberpunk in 4K ray-traced on the inside.
This is because you can install up to NVIDIA GeForce GeForce 5080 graphics in this sucker. It supports Intel and AMD processors up to the Ryzen 7 X3D. You can also customize the system with up to 96GB DDR5 Memory, 8TB Gen4 NVMe Storage, Noctua Fans and an 850W Power Supply. It’s a pixelated wolf dressed in ray-traced sheep’s clothes.
It looks like the Retro95’s case is sourced from the Silverstone FLP01 (19459047) This makes sense, since Maingear is also a custom PC builder. The case is a tribute to horizontal beige PC cases that were designed to serve as pedestals for CRT monitors. From the early 1980suntil the mid-1990s, they were the standard. If you prefer the tower that followed it, Silverstone’s follow-up should satisfy your desire.
Retro95 features a front-panel I/O panel that is hidden and a modern airflow design. If its exterior makes you nostalgic for the games you played on PCs that look similar, you can add DVD drive. (Who’s ready for Carmen Sandiego?)

“This one is for the gamers who lugged CRTs to LAN parties, swapped out disks between levels and got their gaming news from magazines,” Maingear CEO Wallace Santos penned a press release. “The Retro95 drop is our way of honoring the classic era of gaming, with a system that looks like the one you had as a kid but runs like the monster you’d spec from Maingear today.”
Retro95 is only available in a limited edition. Maingear claims that once the Retro95 is sold out, it’s game over. It’s not surprising that this PC isn’t cheap, given its high-powered hardware. It starts at $1 599. On July 23, you can order exclusively through Maingear’s site .
