Kuo shares detailed roadmap of Apple’s smart glasses, and next Vision headsets (19459000).
has published a roadmap forecast for Apple Vision headsets and the upcoming smart glasses. Apple is reportedly putting all its efforts into the development of smart glasses, with four different models in development.
First up will be a Ray-Ban Meta-like smartglass with a camera and video recording capability, speakers, a voice-controlled interface and AI features. Kuo predicts Apple’s 3-5 million unit shipment in 2027. They are expected to go into mass production in Q2, 2020.
The first-generation Apple glasses are expected to offer a variety of material finishes on the temples and frames. Apple’s smart glasses will also increase demand for smart glasses across other brands. The product category is expected to reach 10,000,000 shipments by 2027. Apple is also developing extended reality (XR), glasses with liquid-crystal on silicon (LCoS), voice controls, and gestures. These are expected to be mass produced in Q2 of 2028.
Kuo mentions a second pair of “display accessories” that can be connected to an Apple device including the iPhone. They were originally scheduled to go into mass production in 2026 Q2, but have been paused while they refine the product.
It is expected to begin mass production in Q3 (July – September) and will have a production run between 150,000 and 200,000 units.
Apple will not be launching a new Vision device until 2026. However, Kuo believes that there are three new headsets being developed for launch in 2027 or 2028.
It will have an “iPhone processor”a magnesium chassis, fewer sensor and plastic optics. This version will be more popular with consumers and come at a lower price.
It is expected that the second-generation Vision Pro will enter mass production by Q2, 2028, with a revamped look and a new M-series processor. The design will be lighter with a lower price tag.
