It was speculated that the iPhone 17 Air will keep the base A19 chip like the iPhone 17, but a new leak hints at the A19 Pro being fitted into the phone. Now whether that makes up for the rest of the compromises, we’ll have to wait and see.
Apple plans to shake things up with the iPhone 17 series. It is expected to replace its Plus model with the iPhone 17 Air – the slimmest iPhone yet. The rumored iPhone 17 Air has been making the rounds for a while now, but there are hints that it could match the Pro variants more than expected.
This information comes from a known leaker Fixed focus Digital on Weibo, who claims that the iPhone 17 Air features the A19 Pro SoC with 12 GB RAMis the same as in the iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Max models. The Pro SoC was thought to be reserved for the Pro/Max models. However, if the latest leaks are accurate, this may not be the truth. The GPU will be different, with the Air model getting a five-core GPU instead of the six-core GPU found in the Pro and max models. The base iPhone 17 will have the A19 processor and 8 GB RAM.
The iPhone 17 Air will be a compromise device, despite its specs. It is said to have a single 48MP camera on the back, a tiny 2,800mAh battery despite its Silicon-Carbon setup and a single loudspeaker. All of this is done to achieve a slimmer, lighter form factor that Apple believes the vast majority of users will not choose. The phone will be 5.5 mm thin (9.5 mm all around the camera bump).
The iPhone 17 Air’s price is said to be between the iPhone 17 base model and the iPhone 17 Pro. This makes sense, since it replaces the Plus model. Apple has not released any information on the upcoming iPhone 17 Series, so this is all speculation. However, many industry analysts and insiders shared the same information regarding the iPhone 17 Air.
