Google accounts come with 15GB free storage for photos and Drive documents. If you exceed that limit, there is an option to upgrade your account to a paid one. Is Google Photos secure?

What’s new
Today marks ten years since we launched Google Photos, a place to store your photos and videos. Since then, Google Photos has grown to include a wide range of features. AI tools allow you to find the photo you are looking for instantly; editing options make your photos come alive; and new sharing functions make it easier to stay in contact.
More than 1.5 billion people are using Google Photos every month. There are over 9 trillion photos and videos in total. You perform over 370 million searches each month, share 440 millions memories, and edit 210,000,000 photos.
In celebration of Google Photos’ 10th anniversary, we are sharing 10 tips, tools and tricks – including updates for our editor and a way to instantly share albums.
1. New! Redesigned editor makes it easy to edit. Over the years we have used AI to make complex editing of photos accessible to everyone. We’re launching an editor that offers helpful suggestions and places all of our powerful editing tools together. You can use AI suggestions that combine multiple edits for quick edits with a variety tailored options. Or you can tap on specific areas of an image to receive suggested tools for editing the area. Along with other controls, you’ll find popular tools such as Reimagine and auto frame (first released in Magic Editor for Pixel 9 but now available on many more devices 1) alongside other controls. This will be available to Android devices worldwide next month and iOS devices later this year.
2. New! QR codes allow you to instantly share albums. Sharing photos has never been easier. You can now generate a QR Code for easy album access for people nearby or print it out for group events. Anyone can scan the code to view or add photos.
3. Revisit your past travels. Tap on “Places” under the collections tab to relive your travels. You’ll be able to see your photos geo-pinned on an interactive map, allowing you to take a trip through memory lane.
5. Enjoy a look at your month or your year. Google Photos will automatically generate “Best of Month” or ” Year End Recap” photos that will give you a dose of nostalgia. This is a great way to relive your favorite memories. You can send them to family and friends.
6. Create a personal video to share. Tap on the “+” icon, select highlight video, and then choose what you want to include: yourself, your friends or pets, an event, a place, etc. Photos will automatically combine all of your memories into a video that is perfect for sharing.
7. Shared albums can help you stay in touch with family and friends who live far away. Did you know that you can add new photos to a shared photo album of people or pets you choose and updates will be rolled into their app, or even their picture frames? It’s an easy way to share photos with your partner of a pet you both love or to virtually take them on a trip.
8. Customize the grid. Grid controls can be used to remove photos that are cluttering your feed. Tap on the three-dot symbol at the top of the main gallery. You can, for example, use Photos to stack similar photos that were taken near each other in order to declutter the gallery, or hide screenshots GIFs, and memes.
9. Select what memories to see (and what or who you want to hide). You can customize the Google Photos memories you see: Hide certain people, pets, or dates. You can also choose whether to display time-based memories or themed memories in Settings> Preferences.
10. Free up space on your device. If you’re running out of storage space on your phone, Photos can help. Tap your profile picture and then “Free up space on this device” in order to remove items already safely backed-up to your Google Photos. You can still access them at any time through Google Photos, while freeing up space on your smartphone for other things.
