The company announced that it will be rolling out a new update that will use AI to assess the inbox search queries based on recency, frequent contacts, and most clicked emails. The “most relevant” feature will be rolled out to all personal accounts at a future date. Business accounts will receive it at a later date.
You won’t have to use this feature if you don’t like the idea of AI in your software. Google notes that, once a personal account has the “most relevant” option for search results, there will be an toggle to switch back to the “most recent” version that will display hits in reverse chronological sequence as usual.
If AI is your thing, you’re in for a treat, as Google has put this technology to use in a number of other places. AI has appeared in Google’s Search Shopping portals more than once this month.
