Liang Wenfeng, founder of DeepSeek, has made his debut in the _2025 Hurun Rich List_. The list was released on March 27, 2019. The 40-year old entrepreneur enters the rankings with a fortune estimated at RMB 33 billion ($4.6billion), while OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has an estimated RMB 13billion ($1.8billion). Rupert Hoogewerf noted that Liang owns over 80% of DeepSeek. If the company’s valuation reaches OpenAI’s $1 trillion, he will become China’s wealthiest person, a title that was previously held by ByteDance’s founder Zhang Yiming. Liang was born in Guangdong and studied at Zhejiang University. He then built a career as a quantitative finance expert. In 2015, Liang founded High-Flyer Quant – one of China’s leading quant funds – before launching DeepSeek 2023, to enter the AI industry. Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, saw his wealth double to RMB220 billion ($30.44 billion), making him a member of China’s Top 10 Richest Individuals for the first. Xiaomi announced a $5.4 Billion share sale to fund expansion and R&D following its highly successful EV launch. Lei currently owns a 24.1% share in the company. This will decrease slightly after the fundraising.[Jiemian (in Chinese)
