Claude may be getting a Deep Research feature similar to ChatGPT called Compass. Compass will do everything for you. You just tell it what you want and the AI agent takes care of the rest.
“Compass” allows Claude to perform specific tasks, including searching the web, scraping materials, and creating a document that is well researched for you. This is likely similar to ChatGPT’s Deep Research.
Based upon the references shared by TestingCatalogue could help a student who is working on a research project quickly identify credible sources and gather pertinent facts.
After you’ve done this, Compass will begin running and you can see the progress in the right sidebar. Compass is different from the Sonnet 3.7 or 3.5 default models. It focuses on research and delivers everything you need for your query.
Claude’s Deep Research tool may be coming soon
Claude is testing system prompts to make it easier for users. For example, “Find credible sources for my research” or “Provide evidence-based insights for my topic”.
Although the references don’t describe Compass as Deep Research, these prompts imply it’s related with ChatGPT-like abilities.
While it’s not clear when Claude’s Deep Research will be available, I wouldn’t surprise if the feature is initially only available to paid customers.
