Claude copies ChatGPT’s $200 Max Plan, but users aren’t happy

Claude offers a new subscription tier, “MAX,” but it costs a whopping 200 dollars per month. Users are not happy with the way that the company enforces rates limits.

Anthropicclaims that the Max subscription will give you more access to Claude compared to the Pro plan. You’ll get 20x more usage for $200 a month.

Claude Max does limit users to 50 sessions a month. A session is a five-hour period that begins when you send Claude your first message.

Even if you use Claude within the 5 hours, that counts as a session.

If you wait longer than 5 hours before starting a new conversation it counts as a separate session.

Users of Claude are unhappy with rate limits

Unfortunately, Claude’s strategy of limiting the rate is not well received by users.

In a Reddit postusers complained that 50 sessions per week aren’t sufficient when they have to pay $200 plus tax. One of the angry users pointed out that they were paying $200 plus taxes for 50 sessions per month.

Some users claimed in another threadthat the existing $20 Claude Pro membership is now experiencing rate limit errors more frequently than before. This could be due to the launch of the Max tier.

A rate limit prevents Claude users from interacting until the specified time.

Anthropic will nudge users to upgrade to the Max tier if they’re using Claude Pro or free.

Some users are so frustrated that they have already cancelled their subscriptions. Others are still trying to figure out how to use their annual plans. Anthropic is yet to respond to these concerns.
