Chris Krebs loses Global Entry membership amid Trump’s feud

Chris Krebs is a former CISA director, and a political punching-bag for the US president. He says that his Global Entry membership has been revoked.

This news comes after Trump promised to strip Krebs of security clearances in order to punish the cyber luminary for repeatedly discrediting the President’s claims regarding the allegedly unsecure nature of the 2020 elections. Global Entry allows low-risk, pre-approved travelers who are already in the US to bypass the normal border control lines and save time at the airport.

People from many countries can apply. However, they shouldn’t expect approval if, in the past, they were denied the purchase of firearms, had any previous convictions, were the subject of a law enforcement investigation or had any pending criminal cases.

As a result, Krebs lost his Global Entry Membership because Trump ordered a federal investigation into him and SentinelOne. SentinelOne has federal contracts, and Krebs was employed by them until this week. The first to report the news was CNN. According to CNN, Krebs received an email on Wednesday afternoon informing him of the change. The broadcaster reported that Krebs “finds it hard to believe this isn’t another act of retribution from the administration.”

Katie Moussouris CEO at Luta said by X: Katie Moussouris is the CEO at Luta Security. She saidVia X: “If you’re on the fence about signing on to that EFF letter to support [Chris Krebs], please consider doing it sooner rather than later. Don’t wait until there’s no one left to speak for you.”

Moussouris was referring to the open letter led by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), signed and sent to Trump this week, which implored the President to quit his campaign against the cyber chief he appointed in 2017. The letter reads

“By placing Krebs and SentinelOne in the crosshairs, the President is signaling that cybersecurity professionals whose findings do not align with his narrative risk having their businesses and livelihoods subjected to spurious and retaliatory targeting, the same bullying tactic he has recently used against law firms,” .

And we stand with Chris Krebs for doing just that.”

Trump claimed that the 2020 Presidential election was rigged, and that Krebs, the CISA[19459035Theseweretheclaimsmadebeforethe2021CapitolRiots[19459035Theseweretheclaimsmadebeforethe2021CapitolRiots ; Trump has repeated them since he regained office.

The White House issued an official memo on April 9 ordering a criminal probe into SentinelOne and Krebs over Trump’s allegations, as well as revoking both of their security clearances. The memo also accused Krebs of collaborating with social media companies to censor “disfavored speech” during the COVID-19 Pandemic and to push CISA’s political line in the matter.

Krebs announced his resignation from SentinelOne in the last week. He said he made the decision on his own, without being forced out of the company. He also promised to follow the “tough fight” as set by the president alone. Krebs told SentinelOne employees via LinkedIn in an open email sent to them . The Register reached out to the White House

“But I also know this is one I need to take on fully – outside of SentinelOne. This will require my complete focus and energy. It’s a fight for democracy, for freedom of speech, and for the rule of law. I’m prepared to give it everything I’ve got.”
