Chinese Academy of Sciences has recently released “Qi Meng”the world’s most advanced AI-based processor design system. According to the developer, the system is capable of end-to-end automated design, from chip hardware through to foundational software. Its designs match human expert performance in multiple key metrics. The system uses large AI models to automatically generate Central Processing Units (CPUs) and configure key software components including operating systems, code translations, and high performance operator libraries. The developers cite a case where the Qi Meng System completed the world’s very first fully automated 32 bit RISC V CPU, with Intel 486 performance and over four million logic gate in only five hours.[Ithomein Chinese]
