Brookfield Launches $100B AI Infrastructure Strategy With Nvidia, KIA

Brookfield Commits $100 Billion to AI Infrastructure in Collaboration with Nvidia and Kuwait Investment Authority

Brookfield, a global leader in asset management, has announced an ambitious $100 billion strategy focused on advancing artificial intelligence infrastructure worldwide. This initiative is being developed in partnership with Nvidia, the renowned semiconductor company, and the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), a major sovereign wealth fund.

Introducing the Brookfield Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Fund

On Wednesday, Brookfield launched the Brookfield Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Fund (BAIIF), targeting an initial equity raise of $10 billion. The fund has already secured $5 billion from a consortium of institutional and industry investors, including Brookfield itself, Nvidia, and KIA. BAIIF aims to invest across the entire AI infrastructure ecosystem, encompassing energy resources, land acquisition, data centers, and advanced computing technologies.

Transforming Infrastructure: A Historic Buildout

Sikander Rashid, Brookfield’s Head of AI Infrastructure, emphasized the unprecedented scale of this development, stating, “The AI revolution is driving the most significant infrastructure expansion in history. It rivals the creation of the modern telecommunications networks and electrical grids but is progressing at a much faster pace and on a far grander scale.”

Rashid further highlighted that the AI sector will require an estimated $7 trillion in capital investment over the next decade to support the full value chain, including power generation, computing hardware, and data center facilities.

What Sets AI Infrastructure Apart?

Unlike conventional data centers that primarily store and serve data, AI-focused facilities-often referred to as “AI factories”-are designed to train and deploy complex AI models. Nvidia, led by CEO Jensen Huang, is at the forefront of this transformation, manufacturing high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs) that power AI computations and data center operations.

In its recent quarterly report, Nvidia reported a remarkable 62% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $57 billion in Q3, underscoring the surging demand for AI technologies.

Jensen Huang remarked, “AI will revolutionize every sector, and much like electricity, nations worldwide must develop the infrastructure to support it. This infrastructure requires strategic land use, reliable power sources, and specialized computing equipment. Our partnership with Brookfield and KIA integrates these critical components into a deployable AI cloud platform.”

KIA’s Growing Commitment to Digital Infrastructure

The Kuwait Investment Authority is deepening its involvement in digital infrastructure through its collaboration with Brookfield. This follows KIA’s participation last year in the BlackRock-led AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP) in Singapore, alongside other key investors such as Temasek Holdings.

AIP, established by BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company, Microsoft, and Nvidia, recently announced a landmark transaction with Aligned Data Centers valued at over $40 billion. Aligned operates 50 data center campuses across the United States and Latin America, with a combined operational and planned capacity exceeding 5 gigawatts.

This deal eclipses previous records, including the $16.1 billion valuation of AirTrunk, an Asia-Pacific data center platform acquired last year by Blackstone and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Brookfield’s Expanding Footprint in AI and Data Center Ventures

In addition to BAIIF, Brookfield holds stakes in several prominent digital infrastructure platforms. These include Digital Connexion-a joint venture with Digital Realty and Reliance Industries-alongside multinational data center operators Compass Datacenters and DCI Data Centres. These investments position Brookfield as a key player in the rapidly evolving AI infrastructure landscape.
