The British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) has revealed that members of the BCAA can save up to $20/mo on Rogers 5G plans. BCAA members can save up $20/mo by using the BCAA website. This deal is open to both new and current Roger customers.
The website asked me if I was activating an additional or primary line, or upgrading a current line when I clicked through to find out more about the offer. (I chose to activate a primary line in order to see the options available).
On the BCAA website, there were three plans that had slightly different prices depending on whether you wanted to finance a device or bring your own phone:
- $45/mo for financing and $40/60GB (5G) (250Mbps cap).
- $45/100GB 5G Canada/U.S. (1Gbps speed cap), $50/mo if financing.
- $50/150GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (1Gbps speed cap), $60/mo if financing.
All plans include unlimited data. This means that after the monthly data bucket is used, users can continue to use data at a reduced rate of up 512Kbps. The plans include unlimited Canada-wide and international calling, shareable data and voicemail, as well as group calling, call waiting and call display.
This offer is not exclusive to BCAA Members, as it’s also available on Rogers website.
Compare the BCAA offers to Rogers plans
While we’re on Rogers website, let’s take a moment to compare BCAA’s plans with Rogers existing plans. (These plans are set to expire April 14). Rogers has a $39/60GB package, but only for additional lines. The $40/60GB BCAA is almost identical to the $40/60GB BCAA, except it costs $1 more and is only available as a primary. I don’t see the $20/mo saving there.
For the $45/100GB BCAA Plan, the closest offers available on Rogers’ site are the $50/100GB BYOP Plan and the $65/125GB financing plan. The BCAA plan is almost identical, but the savings are only $5/mo. The BCAA plan goes up to $50 with financing, but it’s still only $15/mo cheaper than Rogers’ plan. Rogers’ plan in-market includes more data while the BCAA plan offers Canada/U.S. roaming.
Lastly, the $50/150GB BCAA Plan ($60 with financing), which is between Rogers’ 60/150GB ($70 avec financing) and 75/200GB ($80 avec financing) plans, sits somewhere in between. The first plan is similar in terms of data but only offers Canada/U.S. The former offers roaming while the latter has 50GB of additional data. The BCAA plan can save you $10-$20 a month depending on what you compare it to.
Although most BCAA plans do not meet the $20/mo saving promise, the overall deals are still quite good. If you live in B.C. If you have BCAA and already use Rogers, it may be worth signing up for these plans. There are still better deals available. Public Mobile’s 35/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico Plan, for example, comes in below the $40/60GB BCAA x Rogers Canada-only deal.
