Rumors claim that Apple is working on a new version of the HomePod Mini, which will be released later this year. The company did not want to wait, and quietly updated the current HomePod Mini. Apple has made a change to the smart speaker’s box, but not any hardware improvements.
HomePod mini has a brand new white box
Apple has changed the box to be all white. Previously, Apple used colored boxes that matched HomePod mini’s color. The product was launched in white and space gray, with different boxes for each color. Apple introduced new colors for the HomePod Mini in 2021. These included blue, yellow and orange. Each color had its own colored box.
The HomePod 2 box is now white, regardless of the color you choose. Apple hasn’t explained why they changed this aspect of their box, especially since a new HomePod Mini model is planned for this year.
It’s interesting to note that this isn’t the first time Apple changed something about the current HomePod mini. Apple changed the speaker’s color from space gray to midnight in July of last year. The colors are almost identical with Midnight having slightly bluish tint.
HomePod Mini costs $99 in US, while HomePod 2 costs $299.
