Spotlight deal
We’ve never seen a better price for Apple’s latest wireless earbuds. Engadget audio expert Billy Steele scored the AirPods 4 at 88 points in his review in September last year. They are still worth a look by iPhone owners who dislike the feeling of traditional headphones that dig deep into the ear canals. They sound more balanced and clearer than most open-back headphones, and still offer all the Apple-friendly features: faster pairing with other Apple gadgets and device switching, hands-free Siri and Find My tracker, spatial audio support, etc. They lack wireless charging, built-in volume control, and the five-hour battery isn’t very good. The open design also lets in a lot of outside noise. To get the most from them, you still have to be 100% Apple. If you can deal with that, then they are a good value. Also available at Target or Best Buy. AirPods 4 with noise-cancelling version are also on sale at $149. This is $10 more than our lowest price, but $20 less than the pair’s normal street price. This version comes with all the same features of the base model plus active noise cancellation, a wireless charging case, and a few extras. The ANC is limited compared to earphones which seal off the ear canal. It won’t give you total silence but it’s surprisingly helpful for an open-back set. Battery life is affected by ANC, and it’s only around four hours.

Apple AirPods Pro 2 at $169 at Amazon (80 off MSRP).: If you don’t mind the traditional in-ear design and are willing to pay a little more, the AirPods Pro 2 remain the best wireless headphones Apple makes. They’re our favorite pair of earphones for iPhone users. The AirPods Pro 2 have the same Apple-friendly features as those listed above, but they also offer stronger ANC, a better fit, a fuller sound, an extra hour or two battery life, and onboard volume control. Since last fall, the hearing aids can also be used as FDA-approved devices. If you’re not tied to the Apple ecosystem there are other pairs that offer superior noise cancellation, audio quality, and battery life. This is a $15 discount more than the Black Friday all-time low, but it’s still $20 to $30 less than the street price of the pair and $80 cheaper than buying directly from Apple. Also available at WalmartTarget or Best Buy.

(19459250]Sonos Era $100 for $199 at Sonos (50 off): To address the elephant, no, Sonos’s business is not going well. We know that it’s hard to be excited about discounts, but we have to mention the firm’s salethat is still going on until February 9. LG B4 OLED TV (48″) for $600 at Best Buy ($200 off): This ties the lowest price we’ve seen for the 48-inch LG B4, which is the entry-level model in LG’s 2024 OLED lineup. While it’s not as bright or color-rich as some higher-end alternatives, it still offers the essential perks of any good OLED TV: superb contrast with deep black tones, clear motion, wide viewing angles and the like. It’s also a nice value for gaming, as it has four HDMI 2.1 ports that support refresh rates up to 120Hz. It’s just better off in a darker room, and this particular model is relatively small.
