Anthropic’s Claude AI is reportedly getting a two-way voice soon

Bloombergreports that AI startup Anthropic will soon release a voice-mode for Claude. Claude’s AI assistant can only be contacted via text. Adding voice mode will bring it on par with other advanced AIs such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Sesame.

Claude will only have three voice modes at first, “Airy,” “Mellow,” or “Buttery.” The voice mode will be available in English and will be rolled out initially to a small number of users. Anthropic has not yet commented on Claude’s voice mode.

Voice mode with LLMs is more than just talking to an AI to have them understand you. It involves the AI responding with its own voice and holding a conversation with you while you dialogue back-and-forth. Think Alexa but much more advanced.

ChatGPT was updated last month to improve its voice mode. It now interrupts you less frequently, allowing conversations to flow better and sound more human. Sesame sounds so real that we were scared when we used it. This article was originally published in our sister publication PC for Alla (19459027) and has been translated and localized.
