Alibaba International Launches AI Talent recruitment Blitz to Power global growth
Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group, the overseas-facing ecommerce arm of Alibaba Group is doubling down artificial intelligence to accelerate global expansion. The company announced “Bravo 102” on April 8, a bold initiative to recruit and nurture top AI talent around the world.
AIDC announced thatover 80%
of its campus recruitment roles for 2026 would be AI-related. These positions range from large language models (LLM) engineering, to AI product management, and data operations. This is part a larger strategy that aims to integrate AI into the core of international platforms such as AliExpress Lazada and Trendyol, streamlining everything from customer service to search and recommendation.
The company stated in a statement that it was not only hiring AI talent, but also building an “AI native organization” to develop and deploy proprietary models for commerce. These models are designed to create intelligent shopping experiences tailored for local user behavior across Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia.
This marks an important strategic pivot for Alibaba, which had previously focused on pure marketplace expansion. The company is now shifting its focus to the infrastructure-level AI transformation.AIDC, for example, has been testing generative AI to automate product listings in multiple languages and personalize promotional messages. The Bravo 102 program is also linked to mentorship by senior researchers at the Alibaba DAMO Academy, and external partnerships with global AI institutions.
The announcement is made as Alibaba faces increasing competition from platforms such as Amazon, Temu, Shein, and others in international markets. AIDC’s investment in AI infrastructure and talent signals its commitment to not only scale overseas, but also to reinvent the global ecommerce user experience using AI.
