AI or Not raises 5M dollars to stop AI fraud, deepfakes, and misinformation

AI or Notis a widely-covered AI fraud detection platform. It has raised $5 million as part of a seed round to accelerate the use of “AI in order to detect AI in images, audio videos and deepfakes in order to prevent fraud and misinformation.

Foundation Capital was the lead investor in this round, with GTMFund Plug and Play and strategic angel investors also participating. The company noted that

the round was led by Foundation Capital. 85% view AI scams now as an “existential threat” and more than half have already become targets of deepfake tech.

In the next two years, generative AI scams could be responsible for over 40 billion dollars in losses alone in the U.S. This growing threat has fueled AI or Not’s growth in the past year. The company now serves over 250,000 users, and the new funding will be used to create more advanced ways to detect misinformation online, and ensure that their tools stay ahead of evolving threats.
