YouTube clarified its policies regarding the monetization and distribution of AI videos.
Recently changes to The YouTube Partner Program Support Page regarding “inauthentic” content led people into believing that YouTube was demonetizing AI-generated videos. The company posted a short video by YouTube’s editorial head Rene Ritchie explaining that this is only a “minor” update to existing monetization policy that requires users to make significant modifications to unoriginal content.
Richie explains that “this kind of content is ineligible for the monetization since years and viewers often consider it spam.” The new policy language will help users “better recognize when content is repetitive or mass-produced.”
As yet, it is unclear what the updated policy entails. These guidelines will be updated on July 15, so stay tuned for more information.
