AMD has raised CEO Lisa Su’s compensation to $33 million for the upcoming year, including a base salary increase to $1.32 million. However, her new package remains well below that of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, whose total pay has surged to nearly $50 million following Nvidia’s record-breaking performance.
Advanced Micro Devices has given its Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su a significant pay increase for the upcoming financial year. The semiconductor company announced on Wednesday that Su would receive an equity award, with a value of approximately $33 million. She will also see a rise in her salary, from $1.26 to $1.32million.
AMD’s annual executive pay filing details the salary and incentive structure for its leadership team. The announcement was made as part of that filing. Su’s total compensation in 2024 was $31 million, including $21.7 million of stock awards and $6.8 million in other incentive-based rewards. Su is the only AMD executive with a salary base exceeding $1 million. Her equity award is also the largest, reflecting the central role she played in steering AMD into an increasingly competitive semiconductor industry. Mark Papermaster, the Chief Technology Officer, is second on the list. He receives a $10 million equity award with a target value of $870,000 and a base pay of $870,000.
The base salaries of all five executives listed in the filing are expected to increase by 3%-5% for the fiscal. Su’s equity award of $33 million is set to convert into a combination performance-based and stock options on August 15. 75% of it will be restricted stock units (RSUs) while the remaining 25 % will be time-based options.
AMD’s compensation changes demonstrate its confidence in Su as it continues to invest in advanced chips and compete with industry giants like Intel and Nvidia.
Despite the new compensation package, Su’s pay remains lower than her main rival in the industry, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Nvidia revealed that Huang’s total pay for fiscal year 2025 was nearly $49.9 millions, up from $34.2million the previous year. Huang’s compensation package includes a base salary of $1.5 million, a cash bonus target of $3 million and a substantial equity award that could be worth up to $27.5 million depending on performance. Huang’s compensation has increased due to Nvidia’s record financial performance in 2025. This includes $130.5 billion of revenue, $86.8 in operating income and a 384 percent return on shareholders over a three-year period. Huang’s compensation package highlights Nvidia’s dominant position in AI chip sector, and its status as a valuable tech company globally.
