According to the latest information from Mark Gurman’s newsletter PowerOnfuture versions of the Apple AirPods Pro headphones could bring revolutionary health features, including heart rate monitoring and other physiological metrics.
Although details are still scarce, tests show promising results in heart rate measurement accuracy. Gurman states that these functions could be ready for the next generation of AirPods Pro headphones, although it is not yet clear when they will hit the market.
Potential arrival of AirPods Pro 3
Historical data indicates the possibility that AirPods Pro 3 will be presented in the fall of 2025. The first generation of AirPods Pro was launched in October 2019, while the second generation arrived in September 2022. If Apple continues with the three-year update cycle, the new model could arrive at the end of next year.
Rumors about AirPods Pro 3 features
Apple’s biggest focus right now is on integrating the heart rate monitoring function. Although Apple Watch already offers this function, AirPods Pro could be an attractive option for users who do not like to wear watches or want an additional fitness device. Gurman points out that the heart rate data collected through the AirPods is less accurate than that from the watch, but it’s not far behind.
In addition, other innovations are expected, such as:
- Improved audio performance
- New H3 chip
- Greater resistance to water and dust
- Better integrations with the Vision Pro device
- Long battery life
- More advanced active noise cancellation functions
One of the more interesting rumors includes the possibility of measuring body temperature and perspiration level, which would further expand the health capacities of these devices.
Apple’s commitment to health
Apple has a lot of experience when it comes to health functions, and AirPods Pro 2 already include a clinically approved hearing aid function. CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, has repeatedly emphasized that the company’s goal is to provide its users with greater control over their own health.
During an interview, Cook stated:
“Ako pogledamo u buducnost i postavimo pitanje sta je bio najveci doprinos Apple-a covecanstvu, odgovor ce biti – zdravlje.”
Apple is also working intensively on developing technology for measuring blood glucose levels through the Apple Watch, which would be of great importance to millions of people around the world. Considering these ambitious plans, Apple AirPods Pro 3 could become much more than high-end headphones, writes BGR.
