Mark Zuckerberg’s AI talent hiring spree continues. According to a report by, Meta attempted to acquire Safe Superintelligence in recent months. Safe Superintelligence is a $32 billion AI startup founded by Ilya Sutskever (former chief scientist of OpenAI). CNBC Thursday. CNBC reports that Sutskever turned Meta down but is now in negotiations to hire Safe Superintelligence CEO Daniel Gross, the co-founder of Safe Superintelligence. The Information reported earlier this week that Meta was in discussions to hire Gross (19459042) as well as former GitHub Chief Executive Nat Friedman. Meta is also taking a stake, according to reports, in Friedman and Gross joint venture firm. NFDGhas invested in notable AI startups like Perplexity and Character.AI.
Gross & Friedman could be a significant addition to Meta’s AI superintelligence laboratory, bringing in leaders with experience running and investing AI research labs.
