Telus weekend sale reduces plans by $10

The sale brings the plan prices to what they were in the beginning of the months

Telus has a weekend sale that brings its wireless plans back to the same prices they were at the start of May, before the carrier raised the prices.

Check the current prices below.

  • 60/100GB (5G (1Gbps) speed – previously $70/100GB.
  • $70/175GB 5G (1Gbps speed) Canada/U.S. Previously $80/175GB.
  • Canada/U.S./Mexico $90/250GB (5G) (2Gbps speed). Previously $100/250GB.

To finance a Telus phone, you will need to add an extra $5/mo to the above plans. Previously, the difference was only $10. The above prices include a $10/mo reduction for pre-authorized payments. Bundling Telus home services can save customers an additional $15/mo.

All of the plans include unlimited data use, which means that once customers have used all of their allotted data, they can continue using throttled data at speeds of up to 512Kbps. The plans also include unlimited Canada-wide calling and unlimited international texting. Plus, Telus is offering mobile customers 39 per cent off the company’s Stream+ Premium bundle for six months.

While the above plans are certainly better deals than what Telus had before, I wouldn’t exactly call them “good.” For example, Freedom Mobile offers a $59/mo plan with 100GB of 5G data that bundles Canada/U.S./Mexico, along with 25GB of ‘Roam Beyond’ data for use in other regions. Plus, customers can get a phone with that plan if they want.

Compared to Telus’ similarly priced plan, which is only for customers who bring their own device and only works in Canada, the Freedom plan seems like the obvious choice. And that’s not even getting into the cheaper plans, like $39/60GB Canada/U.S./Mexico, or any of the plans from Telus-owned Public Mobile, which are very similar to Freedom.

Anyway, you can Telus’ website has the latest plans. The company said that the plans would be available until May 21, giving customers more time to get a discount.
