OpenAI announced that all users will be able to shop in ChatGPT from the Search function. They can search for products, compare options and purchase them directly within ChatGPT. In the press release, it states that this includes fashion and beauty, home goods and electronics, and that they are looking to expand into more categories in the future.
OpenAI states that these search results do not constitute ads. These updates are available for ChatGPT Plus and Pro users.
OpenAI also introduced search in WhatsApp, which allows users to send a WhatsApp message directly to ChatGPT.
OpenAI announced recently that ChatGPT users who are free can access the Deep Research Tool without paying for it. The company will also increase the tool’s limitations for all users by using a lightweight version powered with its o4 mini model.
ChatGPT had over 52 times as many visitors in February 2025 than Microsoft Copilot. According to the report ChatGPT had 5.2 billion worldwide visits that month. Copilot only saw 98.9 millions monthly visitors.
