Microsoft announced Wednesday that it will provide free access to OpenAI’s 01 AI reasoning model to Copilot users. ChatGPT plans charge $20/mo to “limit” access to the model and $200/mo to have unlimited access. Mustafa Suleyman said the model would be available “everywhere” and “free of charge”. This could be a huge discount.
Microsoft representatives did not immediately respond to questions at the time. Microsoft said on Friday that their new Think Deeper tool has limitations, but they are keeping mum.
Microsoft’s representative stated via email that “Usage is limited to a certain number of messages per week, and Copilot Pro subscribers have more turns each week.” The exact amount depends on the number of people using Think Deeper at any given time. You may receive an error message or the feature won’t be visible during this time.
To put it another way, Think Deeper could just stop working for unknown reasons. We’ve asked Microsoft to clarify and will update this story when we hear back.
It’s strange that Microsoft won’t let us know how many Think Deeper queries will be allowed. Microsoft’s sneaky price increase on Microsoft 365 includes an AI credit allocation. You can use AI 60 times on Designer or Copilot Plus. (Here’s a way to turn it off, and save $30.
OpenAI can be used to determine your Think Deeper rate cap. When you use Think Deeper, the rate limit is not always obvious. OpenAI announced a preview version of the o1 modeland limited queries to 50 per week.
For thousands of years, people prayed to gods and goddesses. They offered sacrifices as a way to gain their blessings. The gods, however, were unpredictable and would often ignore humanity’s pleas for unknown reasons. The person was left wondering what the god’s reason for withdrawing his divine favor was.
The promise of Artificial General Intelligence, or AGI, is that machines will one day be as intelligent as humans and may even surpass them. But today’s new silicon and fibre gods are being taught to scorn a humble supplicant who asks if Captain America can defeat Spider-Man.
When will we find out why Copilot doesn’t respond? Microsoft, the high priest of their religion, is teaching them they don’t need to.
