According to a recent study conducted by Asana’s Work Innovation Lab in partnership with Anthropic, more than half of knowledge workers use generative AI on a weekly basis.
According to the study, the take-up of generative AI increased by 44% in nine months. Those who use AI every day benefit the most. Ninety-nine per cent of users reported an increase in productivity, while casual monthly users saw only a 39% rise.
The study also found that knowledge workers believed generative AI had the potential to automate 31 percent of their job responsibilities. The more they use AI at work, they see more possibilities.

As workers apply AI to a wider range of tasks, many discover new ways to enhance their work. This leads to them finding new applications for AI. It creates a virtuous circle of AI-powered productivity: the more they use it, the better they become at using it. Financial services workers are more likely than others to use it to automate processes, and it’s no surprise that those in the media and entertainment sector gravitate toward tools for image creation.
Only 31% of companies currently have a formal AI policy in place. This means that workers’ use of genAI is often unregulated, and has led to a rise in the ‘BYOAI trend’, AKA bring you own AI to work.
All workers can benefit from the use of generative artificial intelligence tools, regardless of their employer’s stance. One way to do this is by looking for a job. Automation is sweeping the recruitment industry, and software now does much of what was once done by humans, such as sourcing, outreach and application filtering.
Some firms are using AI to conduct interviews with mixed results. A lawsuit was filed in the US last year against CVS, a pharmacy chain. The company uses video-interviewing technology that is analyzed by artificial intelligence as part of its application procedure. The plaintiff claimed that CVS violated Massachusetts law by not providing an opt-out.
Boosting your job search
Although there are downsides, using generative AI for job searching is a net plus.
Take, for instance, the Reddit user who created an AI bot that automatically applied to 1,000 jobs. The result was 50 interviews within a month. This is far more than many job seekers can expect to achieve using traditional career search methods.
A user who deleted their Reddit profile later said that “the tailored CVs and covers letters, customized according to each job description, made an important difference.”
On the House of Talent Job Board, a new conversational AI can help you find your next tech job quickly and accurately.
You can find the agent at the bottom of the screen on the right side. It will allow you to search best-matched positions using your CV. You can also tell it about yourself, your skills and your current location, or where you would like to work.
Generational AI’s time-saving abilities can be used to optimise your application materials once you have identified the best roles to apply to. AI tools can help to reduce grammatical errors, align your experience with the job description and speed up the process.
ChatGPT or Perplexity can be used to compare your CV with a job description, highlighting areas that need to be improved or skills to highlight. This will help you optimize your application materials for every role you apply for.
GenAI can also help you if you’ve ever thought about sending a message to a recruiter on LinkedIn or an email on spec. Claude can help you write concise, effective emails or messages that you can edit to ensure they are on point.
A cover letter is another time-consuming part of a job search that many find intimidating. Many job seekers don’t bother with cover letters unless they are required to. Hiring managers appreciate cover letters as they provide additional context to your CV. You can show your motivation and desire to be in the role along with other more intangible skills such as soft skills.
This process can be simplified by using a Gen AI tool that creates a cover note based on your resume. This framework can be padded as you wish — you can add additional experience, KPIs that you achieved and an explanation of why the job is so appealing to you.
But that’s not it. AI can help you prepare for job interviews by researching companies, positions and terminology. You can use an AI tool to prepare for interviews by asking it for sample questions, such as for a software engineer role. No matter what tools or platforms are used, you must always check the results. You are in control. Generative AI is a great assistant, but it’s not a replacement for you.
