ChatGPT wants you to use it as your reminder app.
OpenAI announced on Tuesday a new feature for ChatGPT that will transform the chatbot into an app to remind users of their tasks. The “Tasks” feature allows users to ask ChatGPT for reminders about their tasks, and even create periodic notifications.

OpenAI describes this feature as “an important step toward making it a helpful AI assistant that can take on tasks in your behalf.”
This feature lets ChatGPT send you reminders whenever you need them. When the feature is enabled, you only need to tell ChatGPT the date and time of the task. In the profile menu of ChatGPT, there will be a section dedicated to managing tasks. The chatbot can also suggest tasks based upon your chats.
For example, users can ask ChatGPT remind them of their passport expiration in six months. It can also handle more complex requests such as a daily weather forecast every morning or a weekly list of things to be done. ChatGPT sends push notifications through its website or app. The app will create a task based on what you tell it (if you let it).
ChatGPT Plus Team and Pro subscribers are now receiving the new Tasks feature as a “beta”. The new “4o with schedule tasks” model will be available on all platforms. During the beta period, users are limited to 10 active tasks. ChatGPT macOS app will also support push notifications. OpenAI told 9to5Macthat they will use the beta period to learn how users use tasks, and then refine the feature.
In December, OpenAI made ChatGPT Search available to everyone for free. The feature essentially turns ChatGPT into a search engine that can find answers on the web in real time. The macOS app was also recently updated to work with Apple Notes and more third-party apps.
